When I'm not at school or a gym, you might find me with my daughter, Skylar. She is now four years old. I started coaching at Santa Fe in the Fall of 2010. I began teaching at Santa Fe High School in 2011. I teach junior high and high school English. This is my eighth year as the head volleyball coach. I am very honored to work in this community. The administrators and faculty members at Santa Fe are amazing. My coworkers are fun and inspiring. They share the same love of learning and ongoing education as I do. #blessed |

How Did I Get Here?
I began my role as a teacher by coaching club volleyball with Arsenal out of Concordia, Missouri. From there, I found I had a passion for coaching and mentoring young athletes. I discovered my love for teaching and knew that my life-long love of literature and writing would be a good fit for the classroom. I was already at UCM attaining a B.A. in English. So, I began to pursue a degree in teaching at UCM where I earned a Masters in Teaching, a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in Creative Writing. Some of my favorite professors were Miriam Fuller (British and English Literature), Kevin Prufer (poet and creative writing instructor), and Mark Adderley (educator and writer of all that is Arthurian legend). I applied for a job at Santa Fe High School upon completing my student teaching in the Spring of 2010. I have loved working with the students and community at Santa Fe, my alma mater. Or is it, Alma mater, just to be punny! ;)
I love working with students and have a passion for helping others learn to work hard and accomplish goals. I hope to encourage my kids to see the importance of reading and writing, and hopefully, to enjoy ELA as much as I do.
My deepest love is for coaching volleyball. I have been here, at Santa Fe for nine years as the head coach. My assistant coaches, Gentry Lark and my father, Bryan Crutchfield (whom we all fondly refer to as "Papa Crutch"), have been wonderful assets to our program. They have helped me grow as a person and as a leader in developing a strong and successful program. Papa Crutch has been with me since 2014 and "Tate" Lark has been with us since 2016. In the off season, I coach other players in the area with Alicia Jones at Static Volleyball Club. https://www.staticvbclub.com/
Volleyball Accolades: 2010-2018

5 I-70 Conference tournament titles, 3 Smith-Cotton tournament titles, 2 Warrensburg tournament titles, 5 I-70 conference titles, 7 district championships, 5 final four appearances, 1 state championship
